This quilt is absolutely beautiful & it’s in excellent condition. The quilt may have been made by Flora McCormick (1851-Feb. 20, 1953) of Pittsburgh, Pa. She pieced fabric to form long rectangles to border the block, and added that awesome ‘ice cream cone’ border. Note that Flora used 2 yellows in this quilt ~ the border is a warm butter yellow & the body within is slightly lighter, adding another dimension to this quilt. It measures 84″ x 76″ and is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or holes, no fraying & no stains. The colors are still nice & vibrant. Lots of feed sack fabrics, along with other 100% cotton fabrics were used – most all in floral prints – pretty pastels too. There are blues & pinks, reds & yellows, greens & oranges. Appliqued, pieced & quilted entirely by hand. Each ‘ring’ consists of 16 different prints. The hand quilting is superb! All of her stitches are tiny, tight & even with 9-19 top stitches per inch. The centers are quilted in a smaller flower ring design. The yellow background was quilted in a grid design while the border was quilted in a shell design. It has medium weight all cotton batting.
